Enemy Mine

She sleeps in me,
a remnant
of forgotten love,
consuming
the air between us.
Choking
with the uneasy rust
of abandoned things,
of nightmares crushed
against silken pillows,
she sleeps
in my absence
leaving me awake,
breathing in
the pure oxygen
of halide dreams.
